Dance...learn it, live it, love it!
PRESCHOOL COMBO I: (3 yrs. old) 45 min. Class Capoeira: Capoeira is a Brazilian fight-dance, game, and martial art created by enslaved African slaves during the 19th century. Participants form a roda (circle) and take turns playing instruments, singing and sparring in pairs in the center of the cirlce. The game is marked by fluid acroabtic play, feints, subterfuge, and extensive use of groundwork as well as sweeps and kicks. Less frequently, elbow-strikes, slaps, punches and body-throws are used. Technique and strategy are key elements in playing a good game. Students first learn the traditions, rituals, and morals of the game before moving onto the exciting flips, high kicks and acrobatics. Capoeira has three main styles, nown as regional, Angola and, the less well-defined contemporanea. Watch studio bulletin board.

Class consists of barre work or center, progressions, and combinations each week. Focus will be on technique, expression, and clarity.

Jazz: Focuses on elements of weight, rhythm, flexibility and movement qualities. Classes will begin with a center floor warm-up, isolations and stretching, across the floor technique and combinations and finally center floor combinations that will combine all aspects/styles of jazz dance (i.e. Classical, Musical, Street, African and Latin).
Lyrical: Lyrical is a combination of Jazz and Ballet technique with modern or contemporary dance moves incorporated. Lyrical is based from a story line created by the choreographer, lyrics of a song or by other stimuli. It is usually performed to slower paced music and expresses emotion not only through the movements but in the dancers performance and expression. Students MUST be enrolled in ballet to take lyrical.
